Factors affecting the speed of agglutination in the Coombs test.

چکیده
The Coombs test (Coombs, Mourant, and Race, 1945a, 1945b, 1946) has become popular as a sensitive and reliable method of detecting incomplete antibodies. The essential reagent is the serum of an animal (usually a rabbit) which has been immunized with human globulin. Potent rabbit sera sometimes show a prozone phenomenon (Wootton, 1950; Van Loghem, Kresner, Coombs, and Fulton Roberts, 1950). The experiments described here give details of this phenomenon, and provide information on the conditions necessary for maximum sensitivity in the Coombs test.

Comparison of Wright Agglutination Test and ELISA in Diagnosis of Brucellosis
Abstract Background and Objective: In our country, the Wright test routinely is used for diagnosing brucellosis. Because of its low sensitivity, the range of false-negative results is high. Therefore, we aimed at comparing Wright and ELISA in the people suspected brucellosis. Material and Methods: The results of Wright, 2ME, Coombs Wright tests were compared with Anti-Brucella IgG, Anti-Bru...
متن کاملThe Iportance of Agglutination tests versus ELISA in the diagnosis of brucellosis
Background: Brucellosis is one of the endemic and a Zoonotic disease of the Iran. Science the rapid diagnosis and quick treatment are very important, selection of a sensitive and specific test solving this problem is of a great importance. The main aim of this study is comparison of routine serologic test with standard Elisa test. Materials and methods: In this survey, 176 suspected patient...

Introduction: Brucellosis is an endemic zoonosis in Iran. There are some reports regarding brucellosis infection in family members sharing the same risk factors and remain unrecognized. The aim of this study was to screen household members of index cases with brucellosis for detecting additional unrecognized cases in Hamedan, Iran. Methods: Two-hundred and thirty family members of brucellosis ...
متن کاملA Comparison of Immuncapture Agglutination and ELISA Methods in Serological Diagnosis of Brucellosis
BACKGROUND Different serological tests are used in serologic diagnosis of brucellosis. The most widely used of these are Standard Tube Agglutination and Coombs anti-brucella tests. Whereas ELISA Ig M and Ig G tests have been in use for a long time, immuncapture agglutination test has been recently introduced and used in serological diagnosis. The aim of this study was to compare diagnostic valu...
متن کاملOccurrence and potential causative factors of immune-mediated hemolytic anemia in cattle and river buffaloes
The main objectives of this study were to determine the occurrence and potential causative factors of Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) in native cattle and water buffaloes from southwest of Iran. Fifty-three anemic animals (37 cattle and 16 buffaloes) were studied. A full clinical history and physical examinations were undertaken for all animals. Four clinically healthy cattle and four h...
